This is the first year I heard of InkTober. So, if you haven’t heard of it, you are not alone!
It’s basically a great excuse for artists to stop procrastinating and start drawing. The challenge is to draw (and post) a new drawing every day for the month of October.
It was a fun challenge for me, and it was fun to see the likes and positive feedback I received.
It had one other side benefit that I hadn’t expected: it helped me develop my style. It’s not like my style is some immutable thing. It continues to evolve. But InkTober, helped push it along.
One of my friends, and a terrific artist, Matt Eng, was also posting pictures for InkTober. Looking at his drawings – and, yes, comparing them to mine – encouraged me to step things up a bit. I also saw some great examples of how to use gray markers. So I tried it. And I like it!
Here are my drawings from InkTober 2015. Can you see the progress?
