Boot Bait

Boot bait
I was tempted to skip a day of drawing today. I spent a couple hours re-doing my blog design. There are some very nice and very easy to manage WordPress templates out there (and so many of them are free). Once you pick one, however, you want to make sure you have all of the right pictures in the right place and text to fill in the white spaces.

There are tags and categories and pages and posts and the list goes on.

So, I spent a little time cleaning and labeling and cropping. I hope you like it!

This boot plays a part in the next issue of Two Young Captains. I won’t spoil it for you. I think you’d be much better served by actually purchasing the book.

After looking at the pictures I’ve done over the past two weeks, I have decided that I like them all much better when I do a little post-sketch manipulation in Photoshop Touch. I like the way I am able to increase the contrast. I am sketching with a single-hardness HB lead. So, it is a bit difficult to get really dark values on the paper.

Once I take a picture and get it into Photoshop, however, I can easily adjust the curves and make the darks darker and the lights lighter. It gives the whole thing a more finished look. Amazing.

Here’s what the boot picture looked like before I messed with its curves:
